2010-07-01 LSE supports ESA’s Sentinel missions at ESOC
|
ESOC has selected an LSE staff member to assist with the Sentinel-3 Data Handling & Ground Segment operations. This brings LSE another step forward in this significant Earth Observation mission.
The ESA Sentinels constitute the first series of operational satellites developed in response to the Earth Observation needs of the EU-ESA Global Monitoring for Environment and Security (GMES) programme. In this context, ESA is currently undertaking the development of several Sentinel mission families (each Sentinel being based on a constellation of two satellites in the same orbital plane). In particular, Sentinel-3 will provide operational marine and land services, based on optical and microwave observation payloads.
